During the past few weeks, I have been unable to attend to rehearsals due to being unwell and resulting in missing rehearsal time. However, Chris, my Director had set tasks whilst I was at home so I had got on with writing a back story for my characters and diary entries to allow me to explore my characters in depth. In addition, this allowed me to give my own interpretation on how they should be portrayed.
When I had finally recovered, we are now at a stage where most lines have been learnt so now we are working on the basic movements of our characters relating to a specific theme that suits our characters, for me anger/aggressive, Marion's being depression and Stephanie's being happiness. Chris had set our group the task of exaggerating our emotions using levels and scales, 1 being the least and 10 being the most exaggerated. We then had to walk around the room doing the same task to allow us to feel on with our characters during the exercise. For our next task was to perform our monologue using a confined space of the dance studio to allow all the movement that we had used to warm up in the actual monologue. This gave us all ideas of where to move at certain points of our speeches to give the scene life as most of the scenes are based around monologues with the Pillow man and expressing our thoughts, feelings and emotions to him. This also prevents the scenes resulting in a pure static manner. Furthermore, during every rehearsal, we always line run in order to make sure we keep up with our scheduling for when objectives need to be completed. On aim for me is to start developing on my second character of Jake.
